Dr. Alaleh Akhavan completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University, graduating with honors from the esteemed Creative Writing Program. She worked as a journalist in Manhattan before pursuing medicine, attending the Albert Einstein College of Medicine on a full merit scholarship. Dr. Akhavan graduated with Distinction in Research in Dermatology, studying nanoparticle technology in skincare, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. Knowing she wanted to care for people of all ages, Dr. Akhavan completed her internship in pediatrics at the NYU Langone Medical Center before returning to Albert Einstein College of Medicine for her dermatology residency, where she trained extensively in medical, cosmetic, pediatric, and surgical dermatology. Dr. Akhavan has remained committed to teaching the next generation of dermatologists, most recently at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She has served as a visiting dermatologist and guest speaker to numerous publishing, advertising, and media companies and has published her work in peer-reviewed medical journals.
